SFTC BASIC TRAINING MANUAL
Trainer Introduction
PURPOSE:
- Acquaint yourself with the trainees, put a face to your name and create the positive training atmosphere
TIMELINE:
- 1–5 Minutes
MAP AREA:
- Behind SFTC building/Parade grounds
STEPS:
- 1) Introduce name
2) Introduce rank / job
3) Describe the goal of training
4) Describe the predicted time of training
5) Give Trainees short chance to introduce themselves (Name, rank, time on roblox, reason for joining the group, etc.)
Attendance:
PURPOSE:
- Ensure SASR Personnel receive credit for event attendance, also ensure that communication is up to par within the Regiment
TIMELINE:
- 1–2 Minutes
MAP AREA:
- Behind SFTC building/Parade grounds
STEPS:
- 1) Ensure all members present are documented and tagged in #event-feed
2) Make note of members not in discord
3) Ensure all members of training are in a voice channel that they can hear you in
4) Get all personnel into the proper uniform (BDU’s or PT’s)
Ground Rules
PURPOSE:
- Establish the rules of the training in order to warn against unfavorable actions that detract from the training environment; ensure a timely, productive, training
TIMELINE:
- 1–2 Minutes
MAP AREA:
- Behind SFTC building/Parade grounds
STEPS:
- 1) Only three applicable replies are “Yes, sir.” “No, Sir.” “Clarify, sir.”
2) “AFK!” is used when going AFK, which is followed by one step backwards
3) “!” is used when one wants to speak in voice
4) “ACK” is the command used to prompt “ACKNOWLEDGE”, to which trainees can respond “Y” for yes or “N” for no
5) No talking or moving in formation
6) “Permission to Speak, Sir” — Only applicable request to speak
7) Ensure trainees toggle shiftlock “ON”
Drill and Ceremony (American Drill)
PURPOSE:
- Instill discipline, teamwork, and pride in recruits and refresh them on drill and ceremony
TIMELINE:
- 10–15 minutes
MAP AREA:
- Behind SFTC building/Parade grounds
STEPS:
- 1) Instruct trainees in the position of attention (no talking, moving, only replies)
2) Teach preparatory commands and commands of execution including “FALL IN” (From right to left, centered on commander)
3) Practice basic facing movements with the SHIFTLOCK drag method after teaching the importance of NO ADJUSTING OR SECONDARY MOVEMENTS
4) Teach the recruits DCID (Dress, Cover, Interval, Distance) and test them on it
5) Explain the two parts of the “FALL OUT” command (give instructions to trainees, “FALL OUT”)
Formation Run
PURPOSE:
- Teach trainees to work together and to fully understand instructions given to them.
TIMELINE:
- 2–3 minutes
MAP AREA:
- Campbell Barracks main road system
STEPS:
- 1) Start in front of the SFTC HQ
2) Run on the road past the Regimental HQ suite, turn around smoothly at that road
3) Head to Range 19
4) Stress maintaining a formation and communicating
Training Area J Obby + Smoke Session
PURPOSE:
- Instill the starts of a positive attitude in recruits, bond recruits through stressful events
TIMELINE:
- 6–10 Min
MAP AREA:
- Training Area J
STEPS:
- 1) Have Recruits Complete both obbies with minimal attrition and constant encouragement, establish time limits for both obbies so that those who don’t finish simply get extra punishment for the rest of the team
2) Punish the recruits for lack of communication and teamwork with Hell Jacks, Froggers, and Suicides
3) Ensure to properly instruct trainees on the performance of said excersizes
Weapon training
PURPOSE:
- Teach firing range etiquette.
TIMELINE:
- 5–10 minutes
MAP AREA:
- Firing Range 19
STEPS:
- 1) Equip trainees with training weapons
2) Fire on semi prone, crouching, and standing at targets in controlled shots
3) “PREPARE TO FIRE” “FIRE” “CEASE FIRE
Points of Evaluation
- Recruits can properly execute drill movements in sync
- Recruits can properly execute the frogger, suicide, and hell jack
- Recruits can identify DCID
- Recruits can run in formation without fail
- Recruits can complete basic obstacle course
- Recruits maintain a positive attitude and demeanor throughout the duration of training
